Far Northwest Golf Outing is a success!

Supporters of the Far Northwest Suburban United Way gathered under sunny skies to golf the beautiful course at the Golf Club of Illinois and raise resources for the United Way.

Participants supported the United Way through a raffle with fabulous prizes courtesy of our community partners, silent and live auctions, and a variety of fun golf games.

The evening was capped by a buffet dinner and presentations of awards for the golf contests and some fun awards for the winning foursomes.

Pulte Holmes and Del Webb Employees Team up for a Day of Caring

Volunteers from Pulte Holmes and Del Webb teamed up to help out clients of Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County lead a safer and more comfortable. Volunteers performed a “Home Makeover” for a family in need; they painted, hung new fixtures, rehung doors, landscaped and more.

The Day of Caring program allows conscientious companies to be matched up with agencies and people in need to work on projects both large and small. If you or your company is interested in participating, please contact us.

The Far Northwest Suburban United Way brought together its Campaign Leaders, Volunteers and key supporters to celebrate the success of the 2007 Campaign at Benihana in Schaumburg. Guests were entertained by Benihana’s famous “teppan-yaki” style chefs as they prepared their meals at their tables.

Campaign Co-Chair Wendi Phillips and Development Manager Susan Ockerlund handed out awards to the Far Northwest Top Corporate Citizens and recognized the special efforts of the Campaign Leaders.

UW Night at the Anvil Club

United Way Supporters gathered April 24th at the prestigious Anvil Club in East Dundee. The Anvil Club donated a portion of the proceeds from the evening to the Far Northwest Suburban United Way to help meet the needs of the communities we serve.

The Anvil Club is a private club located at 309 Meier Street in East Dundee, Illinois. The doors of the club were opened to members of the community to support this great event.

For more specific information about the event, including complete menu, prices, and considerations, please read our flier. In total, the event raised over two hundred dollars and greater awareness of the work of the United Way.

We are pleased to announce the date and location of the 5th Annual Far Northwest Suburban United Way Golf Outing! Golf Committee Chairman Tom Flynn, the Board of Directors, and the Far Northwest staff have been working to diligently to secure a date and location. This year’s Golf Outing will be held on June 11, 2008. Local golf courses were solicited for bids and after reviewing the submissions, the Golf Club of Illinois will be the site of our outing again this year. Great American Insurance employees volunteer at Countryside

Great American Employees hold a Day of Caring banner at Countryside Association.

Fifty employees of the Great American Insurance company in Schaumburg volunteered their time and talents to help out the United Way partner agency Countryside Association for People with Disabilities. Volunteers lead by Campaign Leader Mary Ziegler worked inside and out to help maintain Countryside’s facilities. They applied their talents to a wide variety of projects including painting, raking, and decorating for the holidays.

Day of Caring opportunities are open to any United Way partner; let us know if you’re interested in participating in a day of caring!

UW Partners with Parkway Realty and Paccar Financial for Fall Drives

At the end of October, representatives from Shelter, Inc.’s Jennings Home received donations of food pantry items from the residents of Parkway Realty’s Schaumburg properties, Paccar Financial, and their employees. This is only the first part of a two-part drive - in November they will be collecting hygiene items for the Jennings Home.

The Jennings Home for Girls, located in Schaumburg, provides emergency shelter for girls, ages 11 to 17, who are in need of a safe haven in times of family crisis.

Since Shelter, Inc.’s inception in 1975, they have been providing safe and stabilizing environments for adolescents in crisis. Shelter’s group home program allows clients to stay in school and continue to grow and learn life skills while being supported through tough times.

JC Penney’s Employees Volunteer at Aunt Martha’s

A group of employees from JC Penney took part in the United Way’s Day of Caring program and volunteered today at Aunt Martha’s Youth Service Center. Sporting bright United Way t-shirts, the volunteers tackled several crowded storage areas in an effort to turn them into usable space for the center’s expanding programs. Volunteers helped create several new offices and counseling spaces. Continuing United Way’s mission of fostering partnership between Partner Agencies, staff and volunteers connected Aunt Martha’s unused furniture with agencies who can put it back into service.
